It was only the second day of training camp, and the San Diego Chargers have already been bit by the injury bug.
I'm told by a source familiar with Chargers WR Stevie Johnson's knee injury that he has a torn meniscus & will have surgery soon @nflnetwork

Johnson suffered the injury while trying to run upfield after making a catch during Sunday’s practice.
Here is the Stevie Johnson injury. Looked like a fluke thing. pic.twitter.com/tJp39Xw2wa

It’s tough to see Johnson get hurt, but it’s a familiar sight to see. Johnson has yet to finish a full 16-game season since the 2012 season. Last season–his first with the Chargers–he missed six games due to hamstring and groin injuries. As much as this news is depressing, it could have been much worse (a torn ACL would have likely ended his season). There’s no timetable for Johnson’s return, but hopefully No. 11 will heal up quick.
In the meantime, Tyrell Williams, Dontrelle Inman, Javontee Herndon (who missed practice) and possibly undrafted free agent Dom Williams will need to step up.
