Todd McShay mock draft: Chargers select DT Robert Nkemdiche

By Ernie Padaon

We are talking mock drafts already with our season in the crapper. At the moment, we are sitting and waiting to make the 3rd selection in the draft. I would much rather be sitting in the top 2 in order to make the selection, but we still have a couple of games to figure out if we can get up there.

At the top of the draft, the Chargers will likely be taking one of the stud defensive lineman that is available. Todd McShay’s most recent draft has the Chargers taking Robert Nkemdiche out of Ole Miss. The kid is a beast and would help our soft defensive line. He would be an amazing selection to help build up the young guys we have on the defense.

Nkemdiche is still a junior and could go back to school for another season. We would have to wait to see if he declares for the NFL draft. With his recent incident of jumping out of a window, we will have to see if that hurts his draft stock a bit. It shouldn’t stop the Chargers from taking the best talent that is on the board.

Adding a force on the defensive line would be huge. Having Nkemdiche and Corey Liuget on the defensive line would give the team some good talent in the trenches and there would be some solid linebackers behind him with Manti Te’o and Denzel Perryman. Jeremiah Attaochu would also benefit from another playmaker on the defensive line.

Bring in the top talent on defense and bring in a defensive coordinator that can make the most of the talent and we could have something fun to watch.

What do you think of Nkemdiche as the number 3 overall selection for the Chargers?
