The San Diego Chargers will be without their top wide receiver for the rest of the year. I guess Philip Rivers is not allowed to have good things.
Allen will miss the rest of the year after lacerating his kidney in the game against the Baltimore Ravens. That game saw a couple of top notch wide receivers go down for the year. Allen is out and Steve Smith is out for the year as well after his Achilles injury.
It's official: Chargers WR Keenan Allen out for year, source says. Lacerated kidney. Headed to IR. But expected to make a full recovery.

Philip Rivers can’t have an offensive line. He can’t have a top wide receiver. He also can’t keep his Pro Bowl tight end on the field. He just can’t get any help and this season is going right into the crapper.
Allen was playing great this season and could have made his first appearance in a Pro Bowl with his level of play. Now he will have to sit for the rest of the year and watch some of the younger players get an opportunity.
Who will the San Diego Chargers bring up with Allen heading to the IR? Hopefully they get Tyrell Williams up to play some receiver. He showed a lot of potential and could get some valuable reps with the offense this season. He could be a key player on offense next year and we will get a good chance to evaluate him this year.
At the same time, Javontee Herndon should be brought up as well. He can play receiver and could be elevated above Jacoby Jones on special teams.
It is time to let the youngsters play!
