Tonight, the San Diego Chargers host the Pittsburgh Steelers for a Monday Night Football showdown at Qualcomm Stadium. The Chargers are 2-2, and sitting in second place in the AFC West behind the undefeated Denver Broncos, for the time being. The Chiefs just lost to the Bears, and the Raiders lost to Denver this weekend. This is a prime opportunity to move ahead of their division rivals in the playoff race, and keep pace with a Broncos team who’s offense has looked awful this year, but somehow keep winning..
It would be an understatement to say the Chargers are banged up. They have been ravaged by injuries, and our depth players are getting their curtain call. Addae, Watt, and Jacoby Jones are all active, so that is good news. Hopefully that gives us a.boost. Gates being back should help, as Floyd and Johnson are both hurt.
The offensive line had a decent performance last weekend, and need to pull through again. The run defense has been a shambles, and needs to be able to stop the Steelers potent running game tonight. The secondary needs to shut down Antonio Brown. Most importantly, they MUST figure out how to tackle!
The Steelers, on the other hand, will be missing their signal caller, and Michael Vick will be their starting QB. This is very fortunate for the Chargers. Vick is nowhere near the QB Roethlesberger is, so hopefully we don’t make him look like it, like we made McCown look like Brady last week. The defense has to play lights out tonight!
Please feel free to post your comments below, and discuss all things Charger. If the Chargers win here, they will go to play Green Bay with a little breathing room. If they don’t, that could be it for our Bolts. Let’s hope they pull out the win!
