Next in the series ‘The Tom Telesco Mess’ we take a closer look at the free agency moves that TT has made. In all honesty I was expecting another sub-par performance like the draft edition, but as I looked over the players I see that TT has done quite well in Free Agency. Sure there are no big name signings, but he has selected many quality players at bargain prices and has found a few diamonds in the rough as well as a few dog turds.
To explain how I rated the acquisitions, it is based on player performance, the cost and where TT found them. For example, Dontrelle Inman is in the ‘Great’ category not because he is putting up Keenean Allen numbers but because he was signed for cheap and plucked from the CFL. TT finding gold where no one else seemed to be looking.
Here is the list.

I did not include every free agent signing. There are just too many. It is staggering to look over 3 years of transactions and see how many players have come and gone.
The next list is UDFA’s that have made the team. You usually think when the Chargers grab 20 guys at the end of the draft that they are just picking up camp bodies, but TT has been able to find good players in the leftovers from the draft. Here is the list

You can see from the lists above that the good moves that TT has made in free agency are far greater than the few mistakes. Now if he would cut ties with Donald Brown permanently I would give TT a better grade, but Donald still lingers on the roster for some unknown reason.
The grade for TT’s Free Agency work: B++
