Chargers News: Ladarius Green evaluated for concussion

With Antonio Gates on the sideline for the first 4 games of the season, San Diego Chargers fans expected Ladarius Green to carry the load in the passing game at the tight end position. We are not sure if he will step on the field with the team on week 1 at this point though. He currently is being evaluated for a concussion. If he is unable to go, the team would only have a pair of tight ends available to play against the Detroit Lions.

Kyle Miller and David Johnson would be the only tight ends on the roster if Green were to sit out with the concussion and both are primarily blocking tight ends. If both are on the field at the same time with Melvin Gordon in the backfield, the Lions will have to suspect that the Chargers will be running the football.
If Green were to sit out, the team will likely use a lot more 3-wide receiver sets on offense with Stevie Johnson, Keenan Allen and Malcom Floyd making the plays in the passing game.
Green has all the potential in the world, but he has not lived up to it up to this point. He has the speed, the height, the hops, but he just has not performed on the field. He is entering a contract year, so this would be the perfect time for him to make a big impact on the field. It may have to start on the sideline for week 1.
