The San Diego Chargers heard the argument from the city of San Diego and did not blink an eye. They slammed the door on their concept and special counsel Mark Fabiani wrote this response:

Is there any way that the two sides can get back together at the negotiating table? Is this already a lost cause for the team and the city? Will the Chargers be working in Los Angeles next season?

All the signs seem to be pointing to the Chargers heading to Los Angeles. The city of San Diego made progress with a new EIR report and they got renderings of a possible stadium in the city of San Diego, but they still have not been able to get back at the table with the team.

If the Chargers and the city of San Diego won’t even sit at the table, then we might as well assume that there is going to be a breakup coming. It doesn’t even seem that the team is hiding it any longer.

The preseason is about to start in a few days and we can start talking about real football instead of all this Los Angeles madness that has been flying around. At least we can put down all that talk for a little bit as we see Philip Rivers and company play some football.
