December 20, 2014; Santa Clara, CA, USA; San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick (7) looks for a receiver as tackle Anthony Davis (76) blocks San Diego Chargers defensive end Kendall Reyes (91) during the first quarter at Levi

Kendall Reyes is still listed as the starter on the defensive line. He has not been productive on the defense since sliding into the starting lineup and there has been talk of demoting him down to the second team. He has seen a number of reps with the second team in practice and likely will be working with that team in the preseason.

Ricardo Mathews will likely take over the starting duties at the defensive end position. He was brought in last season and we watched him make an impact with his tenacity on the defensive end. He will get his chance with the first team and should hold onto the starting job at the position.

Moving Reyes to the second team and giving him more opportunities in passing downs could make him more productive. We will have to wait to see that production though.
