Every franchise has its share of villains like DC or Marvel. Whether it’s the Joker, Ultron or Doctor Doom, every story has a good villain. The Chargers are not short of villains. They could either be players who played for the Bolts and made life difficult for people in San Diego or they could be opposing players or coaches that spoiled the fun. Let’s take a look at the top 5 villains in Chargers history.

5. Tom Brady/New England Patriots
This is a bit cliché but they did prevent the Chargers from making the Super Bowl in 2007. The Chargers had made it to the AFC Championship Game by beating the Tennessee Titans and then Peyton Manning’s Colts on the road. But this was the season that the Patriots were chasing perfection.
In that game in 2007, the Chargers took an early 3-0 lead on a Nate Kaeding field goal. The Patriots responded and it was 14-9 at the half, New England in the lead. Philip Rivers threw two interceptions and the Patriots went on to win 21-12 to advance to the Super Bowl. Brady had two big touchdown passes that were the difference.
This is not the only time the Patriots have made life for Chargers fans miserable. Brady is 5-2 against the Chargers in his career. The Chargers have not beaten him since 2005. Every time these two teams meet on the national stage, the Patriots have usually won and Brady usually pulls it out. Take last year for example.
It was a Sunday Night game on December 7th, the Chargers started out playing very well. They got out to a 14-3 lead during the second quarter and they went into the locker room leading 14-13. With under 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Brady connected with Julian Edelman for a 69-yard touchdown to seal the deal.
Tom Brady’s Patriots just seem to be one of those teams the Chargers cannot figure out.
