Eric Weddle plans on joining the rest of his teammates this week when mandatory minicamp starts for the San Diego Chargers.

Eric Weddle is expected to be back on the field on Tuesday with the rest of the San Diego Chargers when the team returns for the mandatory portion of minicamp. He has been sitting out the first few weeks of camp while he was unhappy with his contract situation. The team stopped discussions about his deal and drew their line in the sand on the situation, so Weddle will make his way back on the field with the rest of his teammates this week.

Weddle will be working with one of the best secondaries that he has had a chance to work with since joining the San Diego Chargers. Brandon Flowers will play corner on one side and Jason Verrett will lock it down on the other side for the Chargers defense. They might not have the most size, but they will be tough to complete passes on.

This could be Weddle’s last season with the team. Since the Chargers are not offering an extension out to him at this time, he will play out his contract and will become a free agent at the end of the year. He will be looking to impress the other teams with his play in order to drive up his price. Teams will be lining up for his services at the end of the year. He is one of the best on the field. The Chargers will have to figure out a way to keep him in the blue and gold for the rest of his career. He wants to be a Charger, but the team has not shown the same commitment to him yet.
