The San Diego Chargers have now added Barksdale and Orlando Franklin up front to help the offensive line this offseason. Now we will be watching to see what happens with D.J. Fluker after the latest move. Will he be pushed inside to the right guard position? That seems like it would be the next step for the team and it would put Johnnie Troutman on the bench.
Barksdale is known to be a solid run blocker, but has some issues against the pass, but the Chargers will be looking to run the ball down team’s throats this season anyway. The Chargers added Melvin Gordon to the roster to take the rock in the running game and Barksdale and Fluker will likely power that right side of the line to dominate people. The play action pas s is going to be money.
The Chargers have a lot of meat on that offensive line now. King Dunlap and Orlando Franklin are on the left side and D.J. Fluker and Joe Barksdale on the right side. Those are all offensive tackles used up front to move bodies out of the way. Look for the Chargers to run the ball down throats this season. Melvin Gordon just got better after that signing.
