The Chargers Offensive Line

The draft is over.  Which means the San Diego Chargers are one step closer to actually playing football.  One good thing that came out of the draft is that we got to hear Telesco and McCoy share some of there thoughts about the draft, the drafting process and the roster.

One of the big things they mentioned was the offensive line.  Many of us had offensive guard (specifically right guard) as the third ranked area of need for the Chargers.  It seems that the Chargers GM and coaches did not share this sentiment.  At the post draft press conference TT said, “We have some depth here already in the offensive line that we like.”  Was he blowing smoke or was he being serious?  Wait… he is catholic.  He must of been being serious.

Here are the 9 lineman most likely to make the Chargers team.  That is if we carry 9.  I think we had 8 on the opening day roster last year.

We have some depth here already in the offensive line that we like – Telesco

King Dunlap – LTOrlando Franklin – LGChris Watt – C/GJohnnie Troutman – RGDJ Fluker – RTTrevor Robinson – C/GChris Hairston – Swing TackleMichael Huey – FA signing from Arena FootballJeremiah Sirles – 2014 UDFA

Three of those spots are locked down by good/great players – Dunlap, Franklin and Fluker

Hairston will probably make the roster as the swing tackle.

The center position is a toss up between Watt and Robinson and we will probably carry both on the roster.

RG is currently occupied by Troutman, but that spot should be heavily contested through-out mini camp.

As for depth, I don’t know if there are a lot of guys on that list that I am stoked about seeing plugged into the starting line-up when one of the starters goes down.  Unless of course TT and CO know something I don’t.

Can we really trust TT on this one or has he gone too far?
