Before the 2015 NFL draft starts in two weeks, let us take one last look back at last year’s draft and how they panned out. The San Diego Chargers finished just short of a playoff berth and some of that is due to the injury epidemic that swept through the team. This was evident in a few of the Bolts draft picks as well.
1st Round: Jason Verrett, CB TCU
Verrett only appeared in 6 games before his season ended early with a torn labrum in his left shoulder. Before being sidelines, he racked up 18 tackles and he got his first NFL interception in a Chargers win over the Raiders in October. He still has a lot of upside and he should be a feature cornerback this upcoming season. It was disappointing to see him go down so early, especially as the Chargers got torched twice for over 300 passing yards after he went down by the Dolphins and Patriots. 2015 should bring new hope for Verrett to be part of a great tandem with Brandon Flowers.
