Dec 5, 2014; Santa Clara, CA, USA; Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota (8) celebrates after scoring on a 7-yard touchdown run in the second quarter against the Arizona Wildcats in the Pac-12 Championship at Levi

Mariota would be the quarterback for the next decade

One reason why the Chargers are always competing for a playoff spot is because of the play of their quarterback. Without a quarterback in this league, teams are a mess and constantly looking for a new solution to their problem.

The Oakland Raiders have been at the bottom of the division over and over again without a quarterback. The St. Louis Rams have had solid players across that roster, but have not found a quarterback to take them to the next level. This is a quarterback driven league. If Philip Rivers were to leave, then the Chargers would be stuck without any compensation and would not have a quarterback.

Getting a franchise quarterback in Marcus Mariota would make this team a contender for the next decade. Peyton Manning only has a season or two left of playing in this division, then it would be time for Mariota to take over the division.

If the team believes that Mariota is a franchise type of guy, then they need to bring him in so that he can lead the team for years and years.
