Todd McShay Mock Draft 2015: Chargers select Malcom Brown

Todd McShay released his latest mock draft and he has the San Diego Chargers selecting Malcom Brown.

It is mock draft season. Since the combine is complete, we can take a good look at where some of these prospects will land around the NFL. Free agency starts in a couple of weeks and we will get an even better view of what teams will be focusing on in the draft. Without looking at free agency, we peek in on what Todd McShay has done in his mock draft.

McShay has selected Malcom Brown for the San Diego Chargers. Check out his thoughts here on the selection:

. The Chargers need to upgrade the interior of their defensive line, as Sean Lissemore isn’t working out at nose tackle and last year’s fifth-rounder, Ryan Carrethers, only played in six games as a rookie. Brown could help right away, because at 6-2, 319 pounds he has the size and strength to not only upgrade the San Diego run defense but also add some much-needed pass-rushing production from the nose tackle spot. As a bonus, he’s versatile enough to play all along the defensive line in different fronts.. DT. Malcom Brown. 17. 13

The San Diego Chargers could use a beast up front on the defensive line. Tom Telesco has said many times that he is happy with Sean Lissemore in the middle of the defense, but the team still could use more help up front. Kendall Reyes has struggled as a defensive end in the 3-4 system. He gets pushed around often and has not been the pass rushing threat that we had hope for. The team could use another big man up front to clog up the running lanes.

Brown would be a player that would be able to do that immediately for the Chargers. If he were taken, he would start up front with Corey Liuget and allow Sean Lissemore to move over to the end position. That line would be able toclog up blockers and allow the linebackers to get to the football. It would be a solid selection for the Chargers. Football is won in the trenches.

What do you think of the Brown selection?
