The Chargers could use more pass rushers on the roster. Freeney was brought in to provide some pass rush to the team, but he has not had the same impact that he had in years past. He finished this season with only 2.5 sacks. He doesn’t have much gas in the tank.

He was able to complete the season with 15 games played. Last year, his season was cut short because of a torn quad. He felt like he was still beating his guys, but the ball wasn’t there when he arrived

“I’m beating guys now, 60 percent of the time, 70 percent of the time,” he said. “The ball’s not there. They’re getting it out.” UT San Diego

Freeney will consider retirement:

“I think after Year 10, I started evaluating where I’m at at the end of the year,” Freeney said. “The thing is, when you’re in the middle of the year, you’ve got too much emotion. You’ve got too much clouding those decisions. That’s a big deal. That’s a big, big decision that you’re going to make that’s going to affect so many people, the team, your family, your legacy. I try to leave that decision, no matter how much I go up and down or feel like, ‘Yeah, I do,’ or, ‘No, I don’t.’ At the end of the year, I sit back, and I’ll really think about it.”

I don’t expect him to be in a San Diego Chargers uniform next season. I doubt that he will be wearing any uniform next season. I think is time is up.
