According to San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy, Philip Rivers looked good in practice. He was hitting all his receivers and he looked sharp.
“Philip had an outstanding day,” coach Mike McCoy said. “The ball did not hit the ground in all the throws he made today. So Philip was Philip today, so he’ll be ready to roll.”
Philip was Philip. We need Philip to be better than Philip on Saturday against the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers do a good job of stopping the passing game (3rd in allowed passing yards) and Philip has not been that good of late (10 interceptions in last 7 games). We need him to be Superman.
It doesn’t sound like he will get any help from RB Ryan Mathews in the game. Mathews is expected to miss the rest of the regular season with the ankle injury. The next time that we would see him on the field for the Chargers likely will be in the playoffs. Shouldn’t this be considered the playoffs?
The media was not able to see the practice today, so we will have to go with Coach McCoy’s word. If he says that he looked good, then we have to believe him.
