D.J. Fluker, Chris Watt Return to Practice

A pair of starting offensive linemen for the San Diego Chargers returned to the practice field on Friday. That is a good sight for the state of this o-line. D.J. Fluker returned to the field on Friday after suffering a concussion in practice on Wednesday. Doesn’t that seem like a quick recovery from a concussion? With him missing practice on Thursday with the ailment, I was already under the assumption that he would likely be out for the game on Sunday. Since he was back on the field, we would have to assume that he was cleared by the medical staff to practice again. We would never send anyone on the field without clearing that….There is some type of miracle medicine in the Chargers medicine cabinet for concussions.

Chris Watt returned at center for the Chargers on Friday as well. He has not practiced all week with the calf injury, but he was getting in some work. The team signed Jeff Baca off of the practice squad as insurance at the position. If Watt is not able to play, the team would trot out Trevor Robinson as the starting center on Sunday.

Hopefully the San Diego Chargers can enter the game with their starting offensive line against the New England Patriots. It would be nice to see them out there in a big-time matchup. Every game for the rest of the season will have huge implications for the playoffs. Everyone has to fight through the minor injuries and get on the field if they can.

The team has gone through 5 different centers this season, but the rest of the offensive line has started every game this year. The inconsistency at center has hurt. Hopefully Watt will be able to get back on the field, but this team has dealt with the revolving door at the position all
