San Diego Chargers C Rich Ohrnberger is going to have season ending surgery on his back. He will be out for the rest of the year and it will allow rookie Chris Watt to start for the rest of the year. Watt was brought onto the team to be the starter for the future and it looks like the future is now. With injuries to both Nick Hardwick and Rich Ohrnberger, it has allowed Watt to get onto the field now.

Watt took his first start last weekend against the St. Louis Rams. The team was able to run the ball last weekend better than they had int he past. Watt could take the starting role at center for the next few season. This will be his tryout for next season and beyond. He already impressed in his first start of his career. Hopefully he will be able to help make the middle of the offensive line a lot more stronger.
I was hoping that Watt would be able to get to the starting lineup earlier in the year, but he didn’t get his opportunity until the injuries hit. It seems as if Ohrberger had been playing through this injury for some time during the year. He was always on the injury report and skipped out on a number of practice days. Finally he wasn’t able to get into games and will call it a season. He will get it all fixed up and look toward the next season.
Time for Watt to impress and help get this team into the playoffs.
