San Diego Chargers P Mike Scifres had won the award for special teams player of the week. He was brilliant on Sunday, but it also means that our offense couldn’t do anything good.
Mike Scifres has won the special teams players of the week for his performance against the Oakland Raiders. He was brilliant with that leg and pinned the Raiders deep in there territory time after time. It was one of the best performances that you will ever see from a punter.

Ever just have a punter help win you a game? Or have the punter be the MVP of the game? We have had it happen a couple of times with Mike Scifres punting for us. His ability to put that spin on the ball and make it bounce sideways or backward is amazing! He just kept pinning that Raiders offense deep in their territory and they were limited with the things that they could do from that position.
The award is well deserved for Mike. Hopefully we won’t have to punt as much in the near future though. It is nice to win an award for a punter, but that means that our offense was not doing their job and moving the ball down the field.
We need Philip Rivers to get an award for offensive player of the week all over again. I remember when he used to do that. It really wasn’t that long ago since that happened.
Mike Scifres named AFC Special Teams Player of Week. Well deserved. Punt team pinned Raiders at own 2-, 4-, 6-, 8- and 12-yard line Sunday.
