The San Diego Chargers are reaching right now for any help that they can get at this point. They signed SS Adrian Phillips before the game on Sunday and have released him a day after the game. His roster spot will go to DE Damion Square.

Phillips was on the roster in order to give some depth at the safety position. With Jahleel Addae still wobbly from the concussion that he suffered a couple of weeks ago, the team needed some depth at the position and made the move to bring in someone that knew the playbook.
Now that they got the use that they needed from him, they dropped him off of the roster and signed someone to play up front on defense. The team likely could use someone to play up front on the offense as well.
The team seems to need a lot of help right now. Will the arrival of Square give the team a boost of any kind? Likely not. He is probably just another warm body to throw at the situation. At this point, the players that are on the roster need to step their game up. Defensive coordinator has to find a way to work with the talent that he has on the roster.
Not sure what excuses he can come up with now.
