The San Diego Chargers are going to deal with the New York Jets this weekend and I already listed out my key players on the offensive side of the football. This time around we will be looking at the defensive side of the football and we will be looking at who needs to step their game up.

The Jets are going to run heavy in this game and will be looking to keep the ball out of the hands of Philip Rivers if they are able to. They have a number of backs on the team that can hit the home run and the team will need to stay disciplined and secure their tackles.

Here are the key players on the Chargers defense for this weekend:

Donald Butler

Butler has not been playing well to start out the season and he will be needed to step up this weekend. He will be needed in the run game and will also be needed to stop the tight end.

He has been one of the weak spots on the roster and needs to step his game up. We know that Butler is able to make big plays, but he has not done it at the start of the season. Hopefully he can snap his funk and start making some game changing plays.
