Michael Gehlken, the San Diego Chargers beat reporter for UT San Diego has reported that Antonio Gates is questionable for Monday Night against the Cardinals.

TE Antonio Gates apparently tweaked hamstring this morning in practice. No media availability. Questionable, by definition, “50-50” to play.

Well, this is a blow to the Chargers, but may be a blessing in disguise. Before I get to the blessing, we all know that Antoino Gates is a vital part of this offense. In 2013, Gates was held, double teamed, and had a red target on his back for 16 games. Now, he may not be there for the Chargers so what does this mean?

Ladarius Green will step in if the future hall of famer can’t make it. The blessing is that the fact that Ladarius, if given a full starting gig for a game, can really break out and solidify himself as another great receiver/tight end on this team. Either way, let’s all pray and hope that Antonio Gates will be okay.

The San Diego Chargers are set to face the Arizona Cardinals in the first MNF of the season. The game will be held at Arizona.
