San Diego Chargers S Jahleel Addae may not be ready for the first game of the season with his hamstring injury. Addae is on the sideline again today resting the hammy, per Michael Gehlken. Nick Hardwick also was not practicing, but it could be simply a rest day for him.

With Addae on the sideline, the team could rely more on Richard Marshall in Addae’s role on defense. The team could also put Verrett or Darrell Stuckey on the field more with Addae down.

Verrett already figures to see a lot of action in the nickel package against the Cardinals. Whoever takes the role from Addae while he is out will have to step in for run support and also add those big hits across the middle. Marshall likely will not be able to make that type of impact, but he may be asked to step in the first game to support that role.

If Addae is not on the field tomorrow for practice, I would assume that he doesn’t get on the field for Monday Night. He just needs to get the hammy ready for the rest of the regular season. He is a high energy player that can make some big time plays on the defense.
