The Arizona Cardinals lost Darnell Dockett for the season today with a torn ACL. Sad news out of Arizona. Why in the world does that matter to us San Diego Chargers fans?

Official word… RT @CardsMarkD : MRI on Darnell Dockett right knee reveals torn ACL. Injury will require surgery & is season-ending.

The Chargers will be up against the Cardinals in the first game of the year in a couple of weeks. Dockett is a big piece to the Cardinals run plugging defense. He won’t be there in the game or during the whole season.

With Dockett out, the Chargers could find a few more holes in the running game with Ryan Mathews, Donald Brown and Danny Woodhead. The Chargers are going to rely on that run game a ton this season and they want to hold onto the football to keep their defense on the sideline.

It is unfortunate news for the Cardinals and their run defense. The news does help the Chargers though . The Chargers have a strong run game and will be looking to pound the ball through the middle of the defense. It could be a little easier to do so now in week 1.
