Defensive Linemen (6)

Corey Liuget, Kendall Reyes, Sean Lissemore, Kwame Geathers, Damik Scafe, Ryan Carrethers

The top 4 guys are likely locked in, but there is room to get better here. Damik Scafe and Ryan Carrethers could easily get pushed out of a job by one of the other guys on the roster. The team could also look toward other teams roster cuts to build up the depth here.

Linebackers (10)

Melvin Ingram, Jarret Johnson, Donald Butler, Manti Te’o, Kavell Conner, Dwight Freeney, Jerry Attaouchu, Reggie Walker, Andrew Gachkar, Tourek Williams

The team is set at the top 8 linebackers on this list. Gachkar is pretty much locked in for his ability on special teams also, which leaves one roster spot between Tourek Williams, Thomas Keiser and Cordarro Law. Right now I will take Tourek Williams to take the final roster spot. If this decision was strictly football, Thomas Keiser likely should have the job, but there are some off the field things with him that the team likely doesn’t want to deal with.

Corners (5)

Shareece Wright, Brandon Flowers, Jason Verrett, Richard Marshall, Steve Williams

Chris Davis has been impressive in camp and could be a roster casualty. This is where cutting a quarterback could save a roster spot. The other guys on this list will make the roster. They are the trusted group to change the way the San Diego secondary is looked at.

Safeties (4)

Eric Weddle, Marcus Gilchrist, Jahleel Addae, Darrell Stuckey

Led by Eric Weddle, this group likely will not change throughout the preseason. If anything, the team could keep another safety like Alden Darby, but this roster has a few tough cuts that it already has to make.

Special Teams (3)

Mike Scifres, Nick Novak, Mike Windt

The 3 usual suspects at this part of the roster.
