Quarterbacks (3)
Philip Rivers, Kellen Clemens, Brad Sorensen
The San Diego Chargers have done a great job of building depth on this roster and there will be some tough cuts at the end of the day. Most of the roster is already set. The question for the Chargers at quarterback will be if the team decides to keep 2 or 3 quarterbacks on the roster. If the Chargers want to keep an extra position player, they should just drop one of the extra quarterbacks. If Philip Rivers goes down, we likely are screwed anyway. I would keep 2, but Tom Telesco has shown that he likes to keep 3 so far.

Running Backs (4)
Ryan Mathews, Danny Woodhead, Donald Brown, Branden Oliver
Brnaden Oliver showed us why he was listed over Marion Grice on the depth chart. He had a nice showing in the preseason and has the last running back spot at this point. Grice will need to show something in the next preseason games in order to take that spot back. I don’t think the Chargers will be able to keep more than 4 backs on this roster.
Tight Ends (4)
Antonio Gates, Ladarius Green, David Johnson, John Phillips
This position is pretty much locked in. There are a pair of guys that can move the chains in the passing games and a couple of bruisers in the running game. This is a solid group on the roster.
Wide Receivers (5)
Keenan Allen, Malcom Floyd, Eddie Royal, Dontrelle Inman, Vincent Brown
Vincent Brown is hanging onto that roster spot at this point, but he needs to get on the field soon. There are some players that are pushing to make it onto the roster that he is blocking. Seyi Ajirotutu is one of the players that would love to have a roster spot, but Vincent Brown is standing in the way. It doesn’t look like Tevin Reese has a roster spot at this time.
Offensive Linemen (9)
Nick Hardwick, D.J. Fluker, King Dunlap, Chad Rinehart, Jeromey Clary, Chris Watt, Johnnie Troutman, Rich Ohrnberger, Mike Harris
This group is pretty set and there isn’t much wiggle room left on it. The team might be able to start Jeromey Clary on the PUP list during the season and could open up another roster spot, but I don’t see him getting dropped off the team. If he is put on the PUP, it could make room for Ajirotutu or CB Chris Davis.
Willie Smith and Mike Harris will be battling out for that swing tackle spot on the roster.
