Marcus Cromartie was signed by the Chargers in May of 2013. He went undrafted after being an All-Big 10 honorable mention corner back for Wisconsin. The 23 year-old only has 2 games of experience, appearing in the last 2 regular season games for the Bolts last year. There has been some big waves made in the secondary this off-season. Cromartie looks to make his splash this fall.
He is the cousin of former Chargers corner, now Cardinals CB Antonio Cromartie. With the acquisition of Brandon Flowers and Jason Verrett, he has his work cut out for him to see some action during the 2014 season. The man is fast, he set his high school’s record for the 200 meter with a 21.77 time in New Orleans, LA. At Wisconsin, he had an interception returned for a touchdown in the 2012 Big-10 Championship Game against Nebraska, helping the Badgers get to the Rose Bowl.
He had a strong showing in last year’s preseason, thus earning a spot on the team and eventually the 53-man roster towards the end of the 2013 season. With another strong August, Cromartie could find himself on the 53-man roster much earlier than December this year.
