Over the weekend, I saw a note on Jason Verrett taking some reps with the special teams as a punt returner. That would be something interesting to see.

The team does not have a lot of good options in the returner role. Last season, Keenan Allen and Eddie Royal split time as a punt returner. Neither of them blew the world away with their work in that role.

Even at the kick returner spot, the team had to rely on a number of different options. Danny Woodhead and Ronnie Brown ended the season in kick return duty and they mainly asked to take a knee.

The return jobs are up for grabs. Speedy WR Tevin Reese is a candidate to take the role, but he has had some troubles fielding the ball. We don’t need any turnovers from the special teams!

It would be nice to get some production out of the role. The offense could use some help with some good field position from time to time. Who is going to take the return jobs? Will it be Verrett? Will it be Reese?
