San Diego Chargers secondary getting love from head coach

On the first day of practice, the players in the secondary has head coach Mike McCoy raving.

“I think defensively overall the secondary got their hands on a number of balls,” he said. “I think Jason Verrett made some tough decisions on the quarterbacks there driving on balls. Having Brandon (Flowers) out there also, Richard Marshall, Shareece (Wright); I mean, they are all off to a good start. “ –

It sounds like the rookie Jason Verrett is making some noise. It still is early in training camp, but  it is nice to be talking about these guys on the field and what they are able to do. It is good that the secondary has people talking in the first day.

Having Brandon Flowers in the mix is going to be huge as well. Picking up talent in the secondary should be a huge plus for this team’s pursuit for the Super Bowl. There are a lot more playmakers on the defense this year and we should see a rise in forced turnovers with the group.
