Antonio Gates missed some time during minicamp and many people were wondering where he was and why he wasn’t with the rest of his teammates. He was tending to a family situation during the time and felt that it would be better to be with his family.
Today we receive this news from Kevin Acee.
Antonio Gates' sister, Pamela, died last night at 22 years old. She'd been suffering from lupus for three years. He was at camp today.

Sad news for Gates and his family. My prayers go out to them and for anyone that new his sister. I still can’t believe that he was with the rest of his teammates today. I definitely would not have been on the field, but this could be his way of dealing with the hurt.
I am sorry Antonio for your loss.
