I almost missed the news of the San Diego Chargers releasing Jonas Mouton today. The news snuck right past me during the lunch hour.
What an amazing selection by the wonderful A.J. Smith in the draft.
During the time of the selection in the draft, fans were putting bald spots on the top of their dome from scratching their heads in astonishment. Why in the world would we draft a possible undrafted free agent in the 2nd round of the draft? Why would we waste selections like that on someone who barely has any upside?
A.J. Smith has given us some crappy selections when he was running the ship. At least we got rid of a pair of those gems before the start of training camp. Larry English and Jonas Mouton are looking for new employment now and will likely be without jobs at the start of the year. The depth on the roster feels that much better without them being an option to steal a roster spot.
Thank you Tom Telesco!
