The San Diego Chargers picked up RB Donald Brown this offseason to add him into the mix with Ryan Mathews and Danny Woodhead. Both of those guys have established themselves on the team and have shown their abilities. Brown will be the 3rd back on the roster and his role has yet to be defined.

Telesco told me recently the plan is for Brown to do more grunt work. RT @Geeeeemen: how do they plan to use Donald Brown along w/ Woodhead?

Tom Telesco is expecting him to do the grunt work for the team. Last season, Ronnie Brown had that dirty job last seaosn. He had to stick his nose in the mix any time Ryan Mathews had to sit on the sideline with an injury (which wasn’t that often last season) or he would come in to bang through a few tough yards when the other guys need a breather.

Donald will get his chances to carry the rock. They may be limited to start with, so he better make the most of his opportunities. If he is able to gain some big chunks on early, then he could hear his name called more and more often. He could set himself up to take over the starting job next season.
