The San Diego Chargers released C Nick McDonald yesterday and have signed Khalil Wilkes today to fill his roster spot. Wilkes tried out for the team during minicamp in May.

Center Khalil Wilkes has been signed to a three-year contract.

He will get the opportunity to work behind Nick Hardwick and Rich Ohrnberger at the center spot. He will get to open up camp with the rest of the team tomorrow.

Wilkes played center with Stanford and could earn a roster spot as a practice squad guy. The team is likely set at the center spot with Hardwick and Ohrnberger available. The Chargers could also move rookie Chris Watt over to the center role this season.
