Mandatory minicamp opens up today for the San Diego Chargers and the rest of the league. All of the players that were missing during the earlier sessions will have to make their appearance now. The only notable name that was gone during the earlier sessions was TE Antonio Gates. He would be subject to a hefty fine if he doesn’t make it to this part of minicamp.
It is time for Gates to make his appearance with the rest of the team. If he is not in attendance, then there will be some questions that will be popping up around camp. Why wouldn’t he make it?
Gates has missed out on the voluntary sessions in the past and made his return when this part of camp opened up, so there shouldn’t be too much to worry about. He can’t be in a contract dispute with the team, since he is still one of the higher paid players on this roster. He really has no reason on why he would miss out on minicamp…. unless he is deciding to call it quits or if he wants to be released. Why did I even give you guys that option to think about?
