The reports from camp on Steve Williams have been good from Tom Krasovic. It is nice to hear good reports from corners on the roster. It is nice to hear that some defensive backs are standing out in camp. There still is a lot of work to be done and it was only one day, but Williams made some impressive plays on Monday.

He was able to make some plays against the tall receivers on the roster as well. He was able to make things happen against Keenan Allen and Malcom Floyd.

The biggest question that the critics have on Williams is his size. He played on the outside in college and critics wonder if he is just a nickel corner. The same questions come into play with rookie corner Jason Verrett.

The size question doesn’t overly concern me. Both are tough players and are not afraid to stand up to bigger receivers. They have the speed to keep up with them and will have to work harder against physical receivers and on jump balls.

I love that Williams is stepping up and making plays. I can’t wait to see Verrett get on the field. I love Jahleel Addae putting in work all offseason. There is potential in the secondary. It is only potential right now though and the coaching staff has to get them all up to speed.
