Evaluating Chargers Roster With the Rookies

Jason Verrett CB:
Many claim Jason to be undersized and nothing more than a slot corner. I would like to say that these people are wrong. Jason plays bigger than he is and is way more physical than all the other corners in his draft class. Had he been an inch or two taller, he could have easily been the top defensive back prospect. It looks like we will use him as our #2 corner, lining up opposite of Shareece Wright on the field. He can also play as the slot corner in certain packages so he will be our key to versatility in the secondary. If for some reason Verrett just doesn’t live up to our expectations as our solution for an outside corner, then the worst that could happen is him moving him down to the slot. Jason should do well for us and give us that speed on defense that Telesco is looking for. Expect him to make great strides as the year progresses. He can only get better.
