The San Diego Chargers signed 17 undrafted free agents following the draft. There are many great players in NFL history that started their careers undrafted: Tony Romo, Jeff Garcia, Jeff Saturday, London Fletcher, Arian Foster and our very own Antonio Gates to only name a few. Which, if any, can join them in the ranks of great NFL players from the Chargers’ undrafted class of 2014? Here are 3 of the undrafted free agents that could end up paying dividends for the Bolts…

1. Alden Darby, Safety, Arizona State

He has more career interceptions than the Chargers’ first round pick, Jason Verrett. With 10 career picks and 217 total tackles, Darby was a productive defensive back for the Sun Devils. He was second on the team in tackles and interceptions in 2013. Though the Chargers have a solid safety in Eric Weddle, Darby can contribute greatly in special teams and in nickel formations. His 4 picks came against USC, Arizona and Oregon State in 2013, meaning he is battle tested.
