The Chargers have agreed to terms with UDFAs S Alden Darby and OLB Colton Underwood.

Alden Darby is a 5’11”, 198 lb. strong safety from Arizona State. He will reunite with Chargers 6th round pick, RB Marion Grice. He is a ballhawking safety, defending 26 passes and recording 10 interceptions during his career at ASU. He is aggressive in run support and plays well in deep zone coverage. Darby shows good shot area quickness and closing speed, but isn’t the fastest player. He needs to work on his tackling technique and put on a few pounds.

The Chargers met with Colton Underwood before the draft, and appear to have been planning to sign him the whole time. Underwood played outside linebacker for Illinois State. He is 6’4″, 255 lbs. He recorded 44 tackles for loss and 21.5 sacks in his career. He ran 1 4.69 40-yard dash and also put up 26 bench reps. He was the team captain and has a great work ethic. Played defensive end in college and may struggle to transition to dropping back into coverage, although he does have the speed for it.
