The San Diego Chargers moved up in the draft in order to take LB Jeremiah Attaochu. The number of pass rushers in the draft was dwindling down so the team was not able to sit back and wait for a pass rusher to be tehre for them.

Attaochu was the last true linebacker on the draft board and he will be able to help the team’s pass rush immediately. The team had one of the worst pass defenses in the league last season and they helped the cause by taking CB Jason Verrett in the first round and by taking Attaochu in the 2nd round.

The team filled a couple of holes on the roster with their first two additions. Attaochu will rotate at linebacker with Jarret Johnson and Dwight Freeney and will get to learn from them both. He should get plenty of chances to hit Peyton Manning next season.

Hopefully we see the team get after a wide receiver in the next round… or an offensive lineman.
