The San Diego Chargers have a scheduled visit with Ohio State CB Bradley Roby on April 24 at Chargers Park, per Michael Gehlken. Roby would be a player that the Chargers could consider in the first or second round of the draft. He has elite speed at corner and he would immediately compete for the starting job with Richard Marshall. Anyone we bring in at the position likely would give Marshall a push for the starting job though.
Roby is someone who has the potential to be a STAR, but the BUST rate on him is scary. There are some question marks on his playmaking ability on defense. The defensive scheme that he played in during college left a lot to be desired. He relies a lot on his athleticism and he won’t be able to get away with just his athleticism in the next level. Everyone at the next level is an athlete. He will have to put some work in.
Roby’s athleticism is what makes him stand out though. If he gets beat initially, he has the speed to make up for it. He is able to react to plays that are thrown underneath quickly and can make a play on the football. He can play that John Pagano off man scheme well. He could to be a good fit for the Chargers.
The Chargers definitely have interest. They are bringing him in for a visit and want to get to know him a little better. He could be the guy that the Chargers take. What would you think of Roby in the first round?
