The San Diego Chargers re-signed Seyi Ajirotutu today, per Ricky Henne. Ajirotutu is a very good special teams player on the roster and also made some clutch catches last season. Ajirotutu will be competing for a roster spot in training camp and will looking to get more playing time on offense.

Ajirotutu led the team in special teams tackles last season and is a key member of that part of the game. Ajirotutu wasn’t able to take many snaps away from Vincent Brown on offense last season despite Brown’s struggles at the receiver position. Ajirotutu has shown a good relationship with Philip Rivers on offense.

Ajirotutu signed a one-year contract and will be competing for playing time during training camp.

The Chargers have been looking at a number of wide receivers in free agency. They offered a deal to Steve Smith and also had their eyes on Emmanuel Sanders and Hakeem Nicks. The team will likely be adding other options at the position this offseason to compete for a starting job.
