The San Diego Chargers added some depth on the defensive side of the ball by signing Kavell Conner from the Indianapolis Colts, per Michael Gehlken. Conner will be depth at the middle linebacker spot. We didn’t have much roster depth at the position last season and when Manti Te’o went down with an injury in the playoffs, the team had to rely on Bront Bird to start.
Conner is not a spectacular name, but he is depth at the position. Donald Butler has had issues with injuries in the past and Conner will be able to help the team if he goes down.
Conner also will be able to help the team in special teams. He has starting experience and Tom Telesco knows him well from his experience with the Colts.
Tom Telesco loves to dip in that bag of tricks for some talent. He knows those players the best and he is going to bring in the guys that can help this roster. He is going to have to find some other players somewhere though.
