The San Diego Chargers are in attendance for the Washington State University Pro Day today, per Ben Natan. If the Chargers were not interested in any safeties in the draft, then they sure are not showing it with their scouts on hand at different Pro Days around the country.
The Chargers had their secondary coach running the drills for Alabama yesterday and one of their top players in the secondary is safety HaHa Clinton-Dix. Now the Chargers are in Washington State and their top prospect is safety Deone Bucannon.
The Chargers also have had contact with Bucannon during the Senior Bowl and he is a player that could be an upgrade to the secondary. We have Jahleel Addae and he did well toward the end of the season, but will he be the answer for the team at safety for the future.
Bucannon is one of the top safeties available in the draft and could be a player the team targets at the top of the draft. He is projected to be selected within the first two roounds and could be anice upgrade for the team. He would be a nice compliment to Eric Weddle in the secondary.
