Potential Salary Cap Casualties For the Chargers

With free agency just around the corner and some glaring holes, the San Diego Chargers find them self in a slight predicament. $2,863,830 under the cap and couple of players set to be making big bucks this year, which player should be on chopping block?
The first name that comes to my mind and everybody else’s is Jeromey Clary. He is set to make $6,250,000 in 2014. That’s big time money for a player who has not made the Pro Bowl. Clary is 30 years old and last year was his best year, when he was moved to guard. This is a long time coming for the former Wild Cat. Don’t be sad he is good enough to start somewhere else, lets punch in his walking papers.
Fullback Le’Ron McClain did his part in creating lanes for Mathews but the bulk of our yards came from shotgun formation. Seems like the fullback position is dyeing out. Mr McClain is due to bring in $3,333,334 in 2014. That’s too much for a player who doesn’t play half the time. Lets give McClain his walking papers.
Next up Eddie Royal. I have been seeing his name pop up and $6,000,000 to a consistently injury prone player is no bueno. Tom Telesco said “he wants speed” and Royal has proven while injured he can still mange to get separation from defenders. Let’s walk with Royal while holding his walking papers.
These are the three players that are set to make some big dough this year. Let’s do some calculations and see if we can get our cap up, as you know we still need to sign Donald Butler….Richard Marshall….Chad Rinehart and Darrell Stuckey..
