Justin Gilbert has to be a player on the Charger radar for their top selection in the 2014 NFL Draft. He impressed during the NFL Combine today and may have moved out of range for the Chargers. Gilbert stands at 6’0, 200 pounds and showed that he is the fastest corner in the combine today. Tom Telesco did say he wanted to add some speed onto the roster.
Gilbert would immediately be plugged into the lineup at corner and would be expected to make some impact plays. As a rookie, we know that there will be some ups and downs in his play, but the team would need to develop him into the player to reach his potential. He has a lot of potential.
If Gilbert is available with the 25th selection in the draft, it will be hard for the Chargers to pass on his talent. We have a huge need for help in the secondary and Gilbert would fill a huge hole there. He also would be able to help in the return game. He is one player to keep our eyes on when the draft approaches.
