Nick Hardwick’s news of his return for the 2014 season has to be a huge sigh of relief to Philip Rivers and other players on the roster. The offensive line will definitely enjoy his presence on the line for another season. Hardwick is the anchor on the offensive line and is a leader. His presence will be needed in the huddle.
With Hardwick back for another season, the team can scratch that off as a priority in the draft and offseason. The team still look to develop someone for the position for the future, but they won’t be looking to plug someone in immediately up front. The offensive line will have their bookends and the man in the middle back for next season. We have to find out what happens at both guard positions. Will the team draft someone to take over one position? Will they put their trust in the younger Johnnie Troutman? Will they keep Jeromey Clary around?
Whoever is at the guard position, we know who will be leading the wan in the middle. It will be nice to see those tattooed sleeves snapping the ball off to Philip Rivers for at least one more year.
