Contrary to the report that Larry English‘s contract was voided yesterday, the Chargers are saying that he is still under contract (ESPN). So much for getting rid of dead weight. I guess we are just going to wait for him to get injured all over again.
The Chargers need help getting after the quarterback and that is what English is supposed to be best at. I guess we are putting hope again that he will be healthy. This would be the final season of his rookie deal.
If English is able to stay healthy, he would be used as a pass rush specialist on the defense. He has shown potential, but he never really is on the field long enough to help the team.
We need all the help we can get in the pass rush department. English’s deal is not that pricey, but that money could have gone in a different direction. English will have to contribute to the team this season. If the team wanted to get rid of English, they likely would have let his contract void. He seems to be part of the plan. SIGH!
