The official awards of the NFL were released today and Keenan Allen was not named the Rookie of the Year. Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy was given the award and he won it in landslide fashion.
Philip Rivers was given an award though for Comeback Player of the Year. Rivers was coming back from the poor play that he had in the past couple of seasons. He had been a turnover monster the last couple of seasons, but he cleaned that up and played at an elite level.
I wish Keenan Allen would have gotten that Rookie of the Year award. He deserved it. It is much more difficult to come into the league and play wide receiver than it is to play running back.
Maybe next season we can get another player playing at a Rookie of the Year type level. That would likely mean that Tom Telesco did another good job.
Allen did get the fan vote for the award. At least he has the fan’s love.
