San Diego Chargers C Nick Hardwick ended this season beat up. He suffered a concussion in the playoff game against the Cincinnati Bengals and was unable to return to the game. He got back on the horse against the Denver Broncos in the following week, but the team lost and the season was over. It was a long and grueling season for the center and he played at a high level, but could that have been his final season.
Hardwick will be 33 years old next season and he has completed 10 seasons in the NFL. If he is not done, his time in the league is winding down. He has been a leader on the offensive line for years and the concussion from the game against the Bengals must have been a bit of a scare for him. His good friend, former Chargers G Kris Dielman had his career cut short because of a scare from a concussion in a game and that has to be weighing on the mind of Hardwick.
Hardwick is going to take some time in the offseason to think about this season and think about his future. After he is done thinking about it, he may decide to hang the pads up. He has been a stable vet on the offensive line and would be a tough member to lose on the team, but his health has to be his top concern.
